Laqa and Co. Sheer Lip Lube Pencil in The Boss Lady |
Hey guys! It's already the middle of the week. I'm still feeling a bit low-key lately, maybe because I haven't done any significant exercise in the past couple of weeks. This "bed weather" is making me stay in my bed longer than usual. *_*
For today, I have a Laqa and Co. lip pencil in the shade The Boss Lady. I got this as a sample from Luxola when they had their December sales and promotions. This lip lube pencil is very reminiscent of
Revlon's Balms, down to the peppermint scent and the retractable packaging.
Features (via
Laqa and Co at Luxola.com):
- Moisturises and fills in unsightly lines
- Infused with refreshing mint
Laqa & Co cover their packaging in unique artwork by young artists looking to get their work seen by lots and lots of people. And their Artists get a cut of the profit from every product purchased.

The Boss Lady is described as "clear nude" in their website. Swatched on my hands, it registered as a light pinky beige. The color is quite matte, with no discernible glossiness or obvious shimmers.

At first glance, I already figured that this shade would be too light on
me. The swatch on my lips confirms my suspicion. The color applied too
light for my fairly pigmented lips which is shame because I actually liked the formula on this one. It applied smooth and creamy with no tugging.

Despite the corpse-like color, it actually applied well - opaque and very pigmented, and no patchiness whatsoever.

Mainly, the shade was my issue, but I couldn't complain on that because I got this for free. To make the color work for me, I tried to apply a darker lip liner - I used Styli Style Flat Liner in Hamptons. It turned out to be a pretty pink shade, which I really like.

Overall:
Laqa and Co. Sheer Lip Lube Pencil in The Boss Lady is a smooth, creamy lipstick that has mainly opaque and buildable coverage. The light, beige-y color washed me out and made me look like a sickly corpse. This shade would only be suitable for ladies with fair complexion, or those that have less pigmented lips. For duskier complexions, you can also try to use a darker lipliner like I did to make this work. I plan to purchase another color just because I really like the formula of this lip lube.
