Perfect For: Prettifying your pucker with no-fade color
I have rekindled my love for MAC lipsticks and got another one not too long ago. I am sticking to the mattes though because I feel that I get the best bang for buck with the opaque color and smooth texture. MAC's Matte lipsticks are not as drying as other mattes I've tried and they always apply evenly and creamy on me.
I chose Please Me because I wanted to have a bright pink for
everyday use. I have a neony pink (Candy Yum Yum) which would be perfect
during the summer and I also have a muted, sheer pink (Angel) which
frankly is a bit of a disappointment because it didn't give me the muted
pink color that I wanted (also washed me out).
Please Me is a unique pink color. It's exactly what I want a true pink would look on me (looking at all of you Think Pink and Elusive). It took me quite awhile to finally decide to buy this shade because I feared that this might be a tad cool for my warm, yellow skin tones. Thankfully, it turned out really, really good (and not disastrous like this: Pale Pink).
The shade can be described as a
medium pink with mostly warm tones (its described as a "muted-rosy-tinted
pink" in MAC's website)
but I definitely see the slightly cool undertones on it.
As I've mentioned earlier, the matte lipsticks of MAC mostly apply smooth and even. They are not moisturizing but not too drying either. I find the texture to be comfortable on the lips: not waxy and very lightweight. It glided readily upon application.
The lipstick give very opaque coverage after just one swipe, but as always I do two or three coats so that it looks even. The color slightly settled on the lip lines and I blame it on the matte and dry texture of the formula. If you moisturize and exfoliate beforehand, you should be fine.
Because of the matte finish, wear time is above average with up to four hours through a light meal and a drink. It leaves my lips a bit dry after a few hours so I apply a lip balm above it instead of reapplying the lipstick.
Pros:
Full, opaque color
Pretty, unique shade
Smooth, even application
Long-wearing
Cons:
A bit pricey
Overall: MAC Matte Lipstick in Please Me offers unique and pretty shade - a (muted) Barbie-pink that brightens your complexion without looking over the top. This has become my go-to color if I want to look feminine and sweet. The shade strikes a great balance between being too pink and being too nude. I feel that this is the perfect "true pink" that I have been searching for and is missing in my lipstick collection because most of my pinks are either subtle or verging on MLBB. It has opaque pigmentation, smooth and and even application, non-drying texture and long-lasting wear time.
