Tools of the Trade: Simple and Sweet Ingenue Makeup Look, Tutorial |
Hello again! For day two of my Valentine Week Special, I have a simple, pretty everyday look. This look gives off a carefree and sweet vibe which won't overwhelm your whole persona. I think this would be perfect for girls who otherwise would not be wearing makeup except for special events (like Valentines!).
BASE: I wanted a fresh, dewy skin for this look so I chose a light coverage tinted moisturizer (Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer) as base. The finish should be radiant and luminous and
should look not too made-up. For the more stubborn spots and blemishes, I used my workhorse Laura Mercier Flawless Face Palette as concealer.

EYES: The eyes for this simple Ingenue look is easy to achieve. Although simple, it still looks and feels glamorous.
|
Eyes: Maybelline, Etude House, K-Palette, Stila |
Step 1: Apply a shimmery champagne shade all over the lids up to the crease to make the eyes appear brighter. I used Maybelline Color Ink in Barely Branded which acts as a budge-proof base for my eye makeup.

Step 2: Add a smudge- and water-proof color along the upper lash and slightly on the lower line, then smudging it out with a
pencil brush gives soft definition around the eyes to make them pop.

Step 3: The last step to achieve a big, rounded eye is to use several coats of mascara on your lashes, concentrating on the middle area. Don't forget to curl the lashes before applying the mascara. If you have the time and ability, you can also use false lashes to further enhance the doe-eyed effect.

CHEEKS: Add dimension to this soft, simple and low maintenance look by using a pop of subtle blush on the apples of the cheek.

I used the middle pinky shade (Squash) from the
Sleek Blush by 3 Pumpkin Palette to achieve a nice soft glow to my cheeks Apply the blush on the cheekbones and blend it out upwards to lift the whole face.

LIPS: In line with the carefree and simple theme of this look, your lips should also look feminine and soft. I chose a coral-pink shade (
Colour Collection Lipstick in Crema) with a satiny finish to achieve this fresh vibe. You can also opt for a soft pink or coral lipstick depending on your choice or mood. I wouldn't suggest a more nude shade with this look just because this can go from sweet to blah fast without some color to anchor it on.

For maximum wear-time, apply a nude lip liner (Styli Style Lip Liner in Hamptons) and line and fill in lips.

Apply sheer layers of the lipstick to make the lips look more natural. Use a gentle patting technique to get this effect.

Styling Notes: For this sweet and simple makeup look to work, all you need is a
flush of blush, fresh, dewy skin and naturally gorgeous brows. This is
very easy to pull off and would be great for a casual date
night paired with low-key jeans/trousers or even a simple dress. Just
don some fabulous shoes and you'd be ready to go! This effortless and understated makeup look is also perfect for a
sunny weekend, brunch with friends or an afternoon of (window) shopping any time of the year.
