Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in Rio Rush 020 - "Drenches lips in glossy wet color. Ultra-light creamy lipstain with
Vitamin E and Aloe. Eighty-eight percent of women felt lips were
instantly moisturized without stickines." via revlon.com
Hello guys. I'm back! I planned to post this review two days ago but was too sleepy/lazy to write anything. This is the last shade of my Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain stash. I will have a round-up and video of all four shades, hopefully by this weekend (cross fingers).
Rio Rush 020 is a bright medium hot pink with warm undertones and subtle shimmers. For comparison, the color looks lighter, brighter and more pink, less purple than India Intrigue. I did not expect to like this shade but I actually do. It's really flattering and not as loud as I imagined it to be.
While I really (really!) like the shade, for some reason, I find the texture to be a challenge. It's not as smooth and spreadable as the other shades I have. When I swatched it on my skin, some parts were really goopy while some are watery. I figured the product might not have been mixed well, so I shook the tube for a minute or so and swatched again. This did not do anything. The product still came out patchy and inconsistent.
Due to the uneven formula, I also had some problems with applying the product on my lips. It didn't "stick" on my skin so as I apply another layer to get an even coating, I'm always left with some patches. It became a bit frustrating as I attempted to cover color patches and then come away with another patch every time I made a pass on my lips.
Adding to the application issues, I also felt that this particular shade feels heavier on the lips. The texture feels more gel-like and bouncy. I can still consider this as lightweight but I definitely feel the weight of the product on my lips as it sits on top of my lips. There is also a slight sticky, lip gloss feel that I dread.
Application and texture issues aside, this shade really packs a punch. The color is opaque and pigmented. If you could muster the patience to apply it correctly and neatly, you would only need a small amount of product to cover your lips.
Don't expect this to last longer than your average lipstick though. The color was virtually non-existent after four hours, and there was very little color left after a meal so reapplication is a must. I also noted that it didn't leave any stain on my lips which was surprising because for such a bold color, it should at least leave even a tiny hint of pigment. After all, this is supposedly a "stain."
Pros:
- Beautiful, flattering shade
- Great pigmentation
- Comfortable formula
- Non-ubiquitous smell
- Lasts up to 4 hours
Cons:
- Patchy application
- Non-staining
- Average staying power
- A bit pricey (Php 625)
