Pop Art Comic Book Makeup Look FOTD, Tutorial
Pop Art Comic Book Makeup Look - This Halloween look is inspired by Roy Lichtenstein’s Crying Girl artworks. You can also adapt the makeup to make it resemble a character from a comic book. This look is all about contrast between bright colors. The more vibrant shades you use the better. Your makeup will really "pop." *_*
I really had fun doing this look as it involved a lot of experimenting and using colors that I don't normally wear. For those intimated in trying out this makeup don't be. I did the whole look in an hour and a half, including correcting mistakes and trying out different color combinations. If you go in with a plan, you can finish this whole look in an hours tops.

What You'll Need:
Foundation, a shade or two lighter than your skin tone
Bright (Neon-y)eye shadows, choose contrasting colors (Blue, Orange, Purple)
Bright blush, preferably a matte one in powder form
Dark (Black) eyeliner
Volumizing mascara
Bright lipstick, preferably also matte (or one that has less shimmers)
Red lipstick (or red eye shadow)
Q-tips, used to apply the red dots
BASE: Start with a lighter foundation than you would normally wear just so you can balance any redness that your skin normally has. Use concealer where needed.
Well-defined, angular eyebrows
EYEBROWS: Fill in and shape your eyebrows with dark eyeliner. Keeping the edges well defined, sharp and pronounced.

I used Wet n Wild Color Icon Liner Brow & Eye Pencil in Deep Blue just to keep thing in balance as I thought that a stark black would be too harsh. I think this actually turned out well, as the blue added an interesting twist to the whole look.

EYES: Use bright and bold eye shadows that will create contrast to your skin. A bold cat eye will also add drama to the look.
For the bolder eye shadows, I used shades from Sleek I-Divine Palette in Sunset. For the lids, I used Color Bucket Flash Pop-up Geller in Blue as base and then topped it off with Skyline (a bright sky blue). I also added Afterglow (an intense, bright orange) on the crease.
Draw a dramatic, thick wing along your upper eyelashes followed by another wing along the crease of your eye also following the shape of the first wing. Finish off the eye with lots of mascara and false lashes.

CHEEKS: Apply a bold, bright blush, concentrating on the apples of your cheeks.

*Draw dark lines using your eye liner along the bridge of your nose, cheekbones, under your lip and in between your eyebrows.

Fill in lips with a bright lipstick
LIPS: Outline your lips, going a bit off your natural lip lines. I used the same eye liner (Wet in Wild in Deep Blue) to do this. I chose a bright lip color for this look (Wet n Wild Mega Last Lip Color in Cherry Picking)

Fill in your lips with the lipstick. I also added a spot of white/gold eyeshadow (Stila Kitten) to give my lips depth and highlight.
Adding the tear drops and red dots
FACE  Outline a tear drop shape under your eye using an eye pencil. Fill in with blue eye shadow. Using a Q-tip and a red lipstick (or white makeup powder), paint small dots all over your face. You can also use any rounded edge for this (i.e. the other end of an eye brush).

*TIP: On hindsight, I think it will look better (and authentic) if you make the dots smaller and closer to each other.

Final Touches: Dust a small amount of finishing powder all over your face to keep the whole look matte and oil-free. Wear with big, voluminous hair and a bright, solid color outfit (color blocking will look great).
