Cleopatra Makeup Look - "This glamorous beauty look is a statement piece that focuses mostly on bold, rich eye colors and well-defined, kohled eyes. Take inspiration from the stunning Elizabeth Taylor in her classic portrayal of the iconic Egyptian queen."
Hey guys. Happy weekend and more importantly, Happy Halloween to those celebrating the occasion. In the spirit of dressing up, let me share my own version of Cleopatra's classical, bold-eye makeup look.
Prep: Apply your usual skin care, especially a good oil-control moisturizer or primer to help your makeup last. Apply a foundation one shade lighter than what you usually wear to get the brightening effect. This will also make your eye makeup pop. For this look, I used Dr. Jart+ Silver Label BB cream.
Fill in Brows: Fill in and shape your brows using a dark powder, preferably black for maximum impact. Extend the tail of your brows to frame your eyes.
Apply Eyeliner: Use a black, waterproof and smudge proof eyeliner. Draw a cat eye and extend past your eyes until your brows and liner meet, creating an angular shape. For this look, I used K-Palette Real Lasting eyeliner.
Apply Blue Shadow: Fill in your eyes with a bright, bold blue eye shadow (Color Bucket Flash Pop Geller in Blue).
Bold, Kohled Eyes: Cleopatra is known for her dramatic eyes. To get this effect, line your lower lid using a black pencil.
Extend the lines of your lower lids past your eyes to connect to the tip of your brow. Intensify the look by going over your lines several times.
Blend, and Blend Some More: Blend out the black liner to achieve a smoked out look. *Tip: Make your lines thick and bold to get a more dramatic look.
Create a Reverse Cat Eye: Exaggerate the shape of your eyes by creating a reverse cat eye, drawing a flick on the inner corners.
Apply Blush: Add warmth and some contour to your cheeks by applying a deeper shade of blush (theBalm Instain in Houndstooth) along your cheekbones.
Apply Lipstick: Pat on a matte lipstick in any nude color. It should be a deeper shade than your natural lip color (MAC Matte Lipstick in Taupe).
Stroke of Gold: (Optional) Smudge on a gold eye liner/powder under your black eye liner on the lower lash line. This will further emphasize your eyes and add a bit more dimension. (Kitten from Stila In the Light Palette)
Final Touches: Add a golden headpiece (I used a gold chain necklace), big, dangling gold earrings and a collar necklace to achieve your transformation into an Egyptian queen.
I really enjoyed doing these not-so-ordinary makeup looks the past week. Hope you can also try them out some time. Enjoy all the Halloween festivities. Always stay safe everybody. :)
