Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lip Color in Touch of Spice 660 - "Deliver a burst of bold color and a surge of creamy texture for the
creamiest matte in 20 make-a-statement shades, , for mattes your lips
will love to wear." via maybelline.com
Hey guys. For day two of Lipstick Week, I have a new offering from Maybelline. Drugstore brands have been churning out new products lately, most of them featuring what they call as "non-drying matte" formulas. Maybelline's take on the trend is this Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lip Color.
I purchased this lipstick a week ago for only Php 199 (Regularly Php 299) as they were having a weekend sale. Personally, even at full-price, this is very affordable vs. other brands (ahem, Revlon) which cost twice or more.
The line have 8 colors released here but at time of purchase they only had 6 in stock. I chose a deeper nude, which is Touch of Spice 660. The shade can be described as a medium-deep rosy mauve plum with warm undertones. It is very natural-looking and can be worn as a nude lip when paired with the right lip liner. I expected the color to be more brown but the yellow in my skin brought out the rosy color of the lipstick. I really like the shade. For me, this is a updated take on the nude lip: vibrant, rich color with less brown and not too pink nor purple.
Packaging: The new line comes in a not so new packaging. It looks similar to other Maybelline Color Sensational range, with a rectangular profile and plastic, translucent grey brown cap that clicks close. The rest is a shiny silver with a color-coded shade information at the bottom. It's simple, unassuming, and feels solid.
Despite being supposedly "matte," this lipstick have a satiny finish (creamy but without the sheen). It felt lightweight and comfortable on the lips. The creaminess made it more forgiving and easy to wear throughout the day. Your lips still have to be in good shape (exfoliate and moisturize) so you can avoid dry patches.
Touch of Spice had opaque pigmentation, with only a single swipe needed to achieve full color. I didn't notice any settling along the lines nor any bleeding. Longevity is also good as the color stayed put for almost six hours.
If I have a bit of concern about this lipstick, it would be the scent which is kind of artificial candy vanilla. It fades over time (maybe an hour or so) and subtle enough for me to not be too bothered by it (I still wish it's fragrance-free).

- Opaque coverage and very pigmented
- Lightweight and comfortable on lips
- Doesn't settle on lip lines
- Wears evenly
- Long wearing (up to six hours)
- Affordable
Cons
- Subtle artificial scent
