Hello guys. It's a rainy afternoon today, which is a welcome break after the scorching hot summer. I've been photographing some more makeup to review so definitely stay tuned for more updates. Today's feature is LA Girl's HD Pro Conceal Orange Corrector.
I had this concealer in my stash for a while now but it's only a few days before that I decided to test it out. Honestly, I was quite intimidated by how dark and orange it looked in the tube. I know (and read) a lot of people rave about this and use it for their under eye circles. Personally, I couldn't imagine putting this on my dark circles. I was worried that I would turn out as an oompa loompa.
This blendable and buildable formula provides the ultimate,
customizable coverage. This must-have concealer includes a soft
brush-tip for easy application.
- Camouflages the appearance of skin imperfections
- Evens out skin tone
- Covers dark circles
- Minimizes fine lines
- Provides customizable coverage
I was both excited and intimidated with this product. In theory, orange would cancel out the blue of your dark under eye circles as these shades are opposites in the color wheel. I'm only familiar with using beige-y concealers so this orange corrector is new for me, especially with how dark (almost rusty) it is. I applied a few swipes under my eyes, covering up my dark circles and being careful not to apply anywhere else. Since this is so dark, it's important to remember to apply just a (teeny) tiny amount. More importantly, you should blend, blend and then blend some more so that the product sinks into the skin and would not look unnatural. If you need more correcting, you can add more layers and then blend some more.
I don't think that this orange corrector suits me. I don't have really dark under eye circles so when I applied and blended the corrector into my skin, I'm left with red-looking under eyes. I looked scary as hell. No matter how I blended it in, the orange/red tones peeked through and didn't in anyway cancel out the dark circles. I have to coverup with my trusty beige-y Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage to conceal the redness.
This deep orange corrector is not for everyone (me included). It did help with correcting some of my dark circles. But the extra work of blending it in and then ultimately covering it up with another peachy concealer is too much effort for me. I think this would be great for those who have really dark under eye circles and those who have some skin discolorations. Those with medium to dark skin tones would also benefit from this corrector. This corrector actually has a good formula. It's very blendable, didn't crease and didn't settle into lines. I can't comment on the longevity because I've only worn this for about two hours but this is certainly a good option for those looking for affordable concealers/correctors.
Pros:
- Light, creamy texture
- Blendable
- Can correct dark circles
- No creasing, settling in lines
- Very affordable
Cons:
- Shade is not suitable for everyone
- Takes extra time to blend in
- Difficult to control applicator
