L.A. Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss in Dreamy (GLG832) - Blurring the lines between lipstick and lip gloss, Matte Pigment Gloss has already become a favorite of makeup artists, blogger and fans. These 16 bold shades provide rich, intense color in a flat finish for all day wear. The long wearing formula goes on as a high pigmented liquid and dries to a flat matte finish. Hey there guys. Another day, another lipstick, another review. The
liquid lipstick trend is still going strong with most of the brands
coming p with their own versions. And also: THIS
which has taken a life of its own it's becoming ridiculous. But that
issue (and my rant) would be for another day because I have a practical solution to your liquid lipstick dilemma.
If you are looking to try out a new liquid lipstick, LA Girl gives you an affordable option. The range has sixteen shades to choose from - nudes, pinks, reds and even vampy ones. I think the selection is enough to start out with but they can certainly add more browns, true nudes and maybe some orange to be substantial.
I have the shade "Dreamy" which is a nude coral pink shade with warm undertones and a true flat matte finish. I think the color would look nicer on fair skin tones but olive skinned girls can definitely rock this shade too. In truth I expected this to be more nude than it looks on me but it somehow pulls more peachy coral and brighter.
The pigmentation of this shade is good as it gives an almost opaque coverage with one layer. I did two coats for full coverage and so it resembles how it looks in the tube. The liquid matte formula is creamy and less watery. It applied smoothly and dried within thirty seconds.
Application for this one can be a bit tricky if you're new to liquid lipsticks. One thing to remember is to apply in layers to avoid any streaking. I also made sure that I really get into the crevices and lines of my lips so it doesn't crack when it dries. One you get used to this though, it will be a breeze the next time you use this.
This feels somewhat lightweight but you can definitely feel that you are wearing lipstick. On the up side, once this dries it's basically budge-proof and transfer-proof. I can feel some stickiness when I press my lips together but it doesn't really transfer and stayed put.
Wear
time for this shade is average with up to four or five hours. After that, it starts to break down a little bit. It actually wore off pretty evenly so you can probably get away with not reapplying for another hour or two. Reapplication can be tricky since it tends to disturb the initial layer so it wouldn't looks as smooth and even. Dryness is of course expected with this formula so you should really moisturize before and after application.
Pros:
- Good, flattering shade
- Opaque and pigmented
- Smooth, creamy texture
- Fades evenly
Cons:
- Drying on lips
- Long, uncomfortable applicator
- Smells "chemical"
