Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in Standout (250) - "Velvety Matte Color. Balm-like Feel. A Matte finish that’s beyond plush. Vibrant colors infused with a Triple Butter Complex give you a bold,
beautiful lip. Go
bold and get moisturized." via revlon.com
Hey guys, happy Monday to everyone. I had a rather productive weekend for me after organizing my closet and what-nots. I feel energized for all the work ahead this week. In the blog department, I have a review of the last of my Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm lipstick. This shade is Standout (250).
Standout (250) is a medium-deep red with blue undertones and satin-matte finish. I love this classic shade of red and this is obviously a great choice if you want a festive and elegant makeup look.
Similar to the rest of the ColorBurst Matte Balms I have reviewed, this shade also applied very opaque and highly pigmented. One swipe will give you full color. The matte formula is very smooth and velvety. and did not feel heavy on the lips. One thing to note is that I don't consider this a true matte as I can detect a bit of sheen.
I didn't experience that
uncomfortable lipstick-y feeling and only a small amount of product
was needed to achieve full coverage. The lipstick easily glides across the lips without tugging. The formula has a bit of "give" in it so applied smoother compared to the some of the shade in the line. The color didn't settle on my lines and
offered an even finish. There was no flakiness nor
dryness.
Wear
time for this shade is average with up to four hours. I had to reapply after a full meal but this actually faded evenly, without patchiness nor feathering. I detected a bit of bleeding after a couple of hours but it's very unnoticeable and can be solved with a nude or clear lip liner. The lipstick is kind of drying, despite the "moisturizing" claim, which is also expected. With any matte formulas, you really have to moisturize and apply a balm before application.
Pros:
- Beautiful, universally flattering shade
- Opaque and highly pigmented
- Lightweight formula
- Smooth, silky texture
- Sturdy and travel-friendly
- Fades evenly
- Mild, pleasant minty scent
Cons:
- Slightly drying on lips
- Average longevity
