MAC Lipstick in Taupe

Hey there guys. I'm excited to do this review today! MAC lipsticks (Matte ones in particular) has always been one of my favorite makeup. I think that even though they are quite pricey, I always get my moneys worth with them. I was waiting for Whirl (always sold out) to restock, but since I wanted to buy a brownish lipstick badly, I opted for this one instead.

Taupe is described as a "muted reddish-taupe brown" with warm undertones and semi-matte finish. I was looking for a deeper nude than my previous go-to MLBB lipstick MAC Velvet Teddy. This one is a shade darker and looks a deep reddish brown. It leans less red and more brown when I swatched it on my arms.

Although this is describes as a reddish brown, this looks more brown on me. When applied on my lips, the yellow in my skin tone neutralizes the red tones of the lipstick. If you have a darker complexion, I think this would look more reddish. One swipe gives you excellent color pay-off. The color is opaque and buildable which is what I like about mattes. They give maximum impact with minimal effort.

On lips: MAC Lipstick in Taupe

MAC's matte lipstick formula is actually more satin matte. This applied smoothly and glided across the lips with minimal tugging. The creaminess is similar to the other matte lipsticks that I have (Kinda Sexy, Velvet Teddy, Please Me). The texture us also soft and velvety and I didn't experience any settling on the lip lines.

Because of the matte finish, wear time is above average with up to four hours through a light meal and a drink. This is slightly drying after a few hours so it's important to prep your lips before application and maybe apply a lip balm before reapplying.

On lips: MAC Lipstick in Taupe

Pros:
- Great deep nude shade for most skintones
- Creamy, smooth texture
- Lightweight and non-greasy
- Relatively long-wearing

Cons:
- Slightly drying
- A bit pricey

MAC Lipstick in Taupe

I pulled out some of my nude MAC lipsticks to compare the shades and maybe possibly find a dupe. Kinda Sexy is the lightest and looks more peachy. Velvet Teddy is a shade or two deeper than Taupe and leans more pinky-brown. Taupe is the darkest of the three and looks more brown with the red barely peeking out. I think this would be a good shade if you want to rock the 90's brown lipstick trend without going too brown.
