NYX Cosmetics Lip Lingerie in Ruffle Trim

Happy weekend everyone. I'm back again, and now (hopefully) able to post reviews in a semi-consistent manner. Today's review is another shade from NYX Cosmetics Lip Lingerie line, Ruffle Trim. (Read my review of Bedtime Flirt here). As I mentioned previously, the Lip Lingerie line features a wide range of 24 nude shades catering to different skin tones. You have lots of color options - from a your typical nude beige to more darker, red-browns. I bought several shades as most of them are really flattering and are more than the typical nudes.

NYX Cosmetics Lip Lingerie in Ruffle Trim

Ruffle Trim is described as a "cinnamon pink." It's light-medium nude pink peach with warm undertones and a soft flat matte finish. As with most of the Lip Lingeries, this shade is another great my-lips-but-better color for my light (yellow) skin tone.  On me, the shade is a subtle nude, with the peach being prominent. In comparison, Ruffle Trim looks more peachy, while Bedtime Flirt is pinker. Personally, I prefer Bedtime Flirt. Ruffle Trim seems to emphasize the yellow in my skin tone and can accentuate red blotches. However, on good skin days, Ruffle Trim is certainly a pretty neutral lip color and also a perfect pair for smokey eyes.

Ruffle Trim has the same silky, mousse-y rich consistency that feels lightweight on my lips.  It applies creamy and dries down to a soft flat matte. As soon as it dries, you can expect minimal transfer and it's pretty much budge- and transfer-proof.

On lips: NYX Cosmetics Lip Lingerie in Ruffle Trim

Pigmentation is exceptional. You would only need to apply a couple of thin layers to get full, opaque coverage. As with most matte lipsticks, you will need to exfoliate and prep your lips so this can apply evenly and smoothly. Otherwise, it can emphasize cracks and dry patches on your lips. This didn't settle on any lines, flaked nor smudged.

The color put for up to six hours on my lips, barring heavy meals and oily food. Ruffle Trim felt comfortable on the lips and was not too drying, considering that this is a matte lipstick. The lipstick faded somewhat unevenly and can cake if you layer it. For touch ups, I needed to remove any residue before applying a fresh coat. It can take some effort to remove this lipstick on the lips but a good micellar water or oil-based makeup remover will do the job.
