Laneige Cica Sleeping Mask | Review
12:39 AMLaneige Cica Sleeping Mask |
Hello everyone. It's been awhile. I haven't been doing anything blog-related I have been struggling with my daily routine lately. Today is also a sad day as our family dog has died. :(
For today, I'm sharing my review of another sleeping mask. This one is the Cica Sleeping Mask from Laneige. I got a 10ml sample size to try out first.
Features:
- A skin soothing and strengthening sleeping mask
- Contains Forest Yeast, a patented cica based ingredient developed by Amore Pacific to repair and improve the skin's barrier (*111.9% greater regenerating effect than madecassoside)
- Intensive care during the golden sleeping time, strengthen and regenerate the skin while you sleep
- Panthenol- Soothes irritations and strengthens the skin
- Shea butter - Deeply moisturizes the skin and creates a protective moisture barrier
- Skin is left balanced, supple and even in the morning
How to Use:
1. Apply this in your last skincare routine every night and leave it on overnight instead of washing off. (Wash off the next morning).
2. Layer it 2-3 times for better soothing effect if the skin is particularly irritated and feels dry.

Laneige's Water Sleeping Mask is one of my favorite sleeping masks. Ever since the brand released this Cica mask, it has been on my to-try list. The 10ml sample I got comes in a small green plastic tub. You only need a small amount to cover the whole face so even the sample size can last for up to two weeks of nightly use.
This mask contains Forest Yeast which supposedly strengthens skin barrier overnight and regenerates the skin. This is also meant to give more moisture and intense hydration. For my oily-combination skin, I think the creamier formula can be heavy. On days that my skin feels normal, applying this mask leaves an oilier feel. However, on days that it feels parched and dry, my skin does benefit to the more nourishing and hydrating formula.

As mentioned, this mask has a creamy formula which absorbs well and sinks into the skin quite nicely. Checking the ingredients list, I see shea butter right on top, which makes sense because this sleeping mask definitely feels on the heavier side (compared to the typical gel masks that I use). I am not too keen on using this on top of all the other skincare that I apply every night since it has a tendency to feel sticky. This also can leave a filmy layer on the skin which sometimes bothers me.
Besides giving moisturization, I didn't see any immediate effects of using this mask. Personally, I would consider this more of a heavy moisturizer. When using the night before, my skin feels soft and bouncy the morning after.

Overall, this sleeping mask is a good centella-based creamy nourishing moisturizer,
more suitable for those with dry to very dry skin. This provided enough moisture
and hydration to parched skin but that's about it. I didn't feel that
this sleeping mask is something to be raved about. For my
oily-combination skin, there would be days that the more hydrating ingredients feel a bit heavy
and had the tendency to leave a filmy layer which feels uncomfortable.
My skin does feel soft and supple in the morning with this mask applied
the night before but I can't think of anymore benefits to justify
purchase considering the price. There are a lot more moisturizing products that offer more benefits at a lower cost.
Pros:
- Highly moisturizing
- Non-irritating
- Absorbs well
- Nourishes and hydrates
- Hypoallergenic 9-free formula
- Mild herbal scent
Cons:
- Can feel heavy
- Expensive for what it does
